A family built on hope

Shed the Light was founded in 2001, with a mission to give orphaned and vulnerable children in Nepal a safe, loving home. In 2015, the devastating earthquake forced us to relocate, but our commitment to the children in our care never wavered. Since then, we have continued to grow, providing shelter, education, healthcare, and a genuine sense of family to children who have nowhere else to turn.

Today, Shed the Light is a registered charity dedicated to safeguarding and empowering vulnerable children, giving them the stability and opportunities every child deserves. We believe every child deserves the chance to grow up feeling safe, valued, and hopeful about their future.

Our Mission

Shed the Light is a volunteer run charity dedicated to safeguarding and empowering vulnerable children in Nepal. We provide a nurturing, supportive environment where orphaned and at risk children can grow up loved, nurtured, respected, protected, empowered and educated.

One of our first initiatives was establishing a Children's Home in Nepal to give intensive care and support to orphaned and vulnerable children, ensuring their wellbeing, access to education, and a real chance at a brighter future. We've since grown to include a Women's Empowerment program, and we responded directly to the 2015 Nepal earthquake to support affected communities.

The biggest obstacle we face isn't people willing to help, it's funding. Every contribution, big or small, makes a real difference to the children in our care.
